In a Time Magazine conducted poll in 2006 it was found that the number of Americans who believe the Bible is literally true went down from 38% in 1976 to 28%. Similarly the percentage of Americans who view the Bible as an “ancient book of fables” or fairytales went up to 19% from 13%.
